Social Media

Social Multimedia Computing
Tian Yonghong, Huang Tiejun and Gao Wen
The explosive growth of social multimedia content on the Internet is revolutionizing content distribution and social interaction. It has even induced a new research area, social multimedia computing. Dr. Tian et al. from Peking University introduced the conception of social multimedia computing and its characteristics. While at present the research is very much at the descriptive level of analysis, according to the authors, the potential for developing social multimedia computing theory and methods is promising.
Content Analysis for Social Media
Niu Zhenxin and Gao Xinbo
Social Media is different from traditional ones such as newspapers, broadcast, and TV programs. Dr. Niu et al. from Xidian University briefly describe the current status of the development of social media. To demonstrate how to combine social and multimedia information to improve the performance of content analysis, they introduce an online collaborative learning system named vLecture developed by their group collaborating with Microsoft Research Asia.
Social Networks and Graph Matching
Ma Shuai, Cao Yang, Wo Tianyu and Huai Jinpeng
Graph theory and techniques have been widely used in social networks, and are indeed the focus of both research and industrial communities. Prof. Ma et al. from Beihang University briefly introduce the graph matching technology, its application in social networks and the relevant challenges due to the rapid development of social networks.
The Dissemination Complexity of Networked Social Media
Zeng Cheng, Lu Jinhu, Hong Liang, and Jia Dawen
With the rapid development of the Internet, the networked social media receives increasing attention from various disciplines. Dr. Zeng et al. from Wuhan University and the Academy of Mathematics and Systems Science, CAS, investigate the dissemination complexity of networked social media from the view of complex networks.
Public Opinion Analysis in Social Media
Shen Huawei, Jin Xiaolong, Ren Fuxin and Cheng Xueqi
In social media, content features of information are very sparse and the semantic ambiguity is growing. As a result, the content-based technique for public opinion analysis becomes ineffective. Dr. Shen et al., from the Institute of Computing Technology, CAS discuss several aspects on the analysis of public opinion in social media, including the characteristics, the information propagation, the analysis of social network, and the information retrieval and recommendation.
Social Media Cloud Computing
Zhu Wenwu,Cui Peng and Wang Zhi
As the rapid convergence of online social network and online media services, massive heterogeneous media contents are shared and spread among users in the cyberspace. The way how media contents are generated, processed, mined, distributed and consumed, the dynamics of large-scale complex social networks topology and user behaviors, impose great challenges for social media computing. Prof. Zhu et al. from Tsinghua University introduce the concept and framework of social media cloud computing, which being considered as an option to cope the challenge, and present the framework of the infrastructure/platform services and social media application services.

Security Frontier Series (1)
The Next Generation of Intelligence-Driven Security
Zhao Liang
Dr. Zhao from the NSFOCUS Information Technology Co., Ltd. reviews the hot topics and relevant technologies at RSA 2012 from three perspectives: 1) advanced persistent threat and security events in 2011, 2) intelligence-driven security and 3) big data analytics. Some cases are also given.
Perfect Combination of Engineering and Academic Research
Peng Silong
Prof. Peng from the Institute of Automation, CAS provides some informative proposals to young scholars. He suggests that China’s young scientists change the paradigm of following the publications in foreign journals and try to identify the scientific problems behind engineering tasks. He points out that only in this way can China’s industries build their own capability of innovation, and at the same time can China’s academy community find new space of research.

Security Issues on the Internet User’s Generalized Privacy
Xiao Xinguang
As the invited speaker of CCF YOCSEF forum, Mr. Xiao, the Chief Administrative Officer of Antiy Labs, discusses the security issues on the Internet user’s generalized privacy.
The Construct Method of Trusted Compiler
He Yanxiang, Wu Wei, Chen Yong, Liu Jianbo, Xu Chao, and Wen Weidong
The trustworthy of compiler plays a key role in the trustworthy of the whole computer system. But the traditional compiler construct method can’t guarantee this requirement. Prof. He et al. from Wuhan University compare various kinds of trusted compiler construct method, summarize the problems in trusted compiler construction and suggest some possible research directions that may bring improvement in these methods.
