本期专题是《计算系统虚拟化——评测和应用》，将继续为读者展示国家“973计划”项目“计算系统虚拟化基础理论与方法研究”在虚拟计算系统的性能评测和应用示范、验证等方面的研究进展和成果。虚拟化与云计算的时代已经来临。虚拟化技术是构建云基础架构不可或缺的关键技术之一，但是仍存在着诸多问题，需要花时间进行研究。希望本期专题的文章为读者对虚拟化和云计算的研究带来一些启发。

专栏刊登了4篇文章。根据本刊主编李国杰院士2011年9月1日在CCF YOCSEF CLUB的讲话整理而成的《脚踏实地，不慕虚荣》中谈到了追求真正的科学精神和开创良好的科研环境。《科研中的布局》以棋理喻学问，引人深思。《多尺度用户界面》通过缩放，尤其是语义缩放，能让用户自主地得到在不同尺度下信息数据的相关特性以及特性之间的关系。《HPC Cloud——新兴的高性能计算模式》以其较小的性能开销和灵活的使用和管理方式已逐渐引起企业界和学术界的兴趣。以云计算的理念运营超级计算中心很可能会成为一个重要发展趋势。

动态栏目介绍了国际会议《ACM人机交互国际会议》和《ACM信息检索国际会议》，并并刊登了《中国计算机学会推荐国际学术刊物（三）》和《中国计算机学会推荐国际学术会议（一）》。

译文刊登了译自《自然（Nature）》杂志第 476卷文章《搜索需要一场变革》，号召研究者开始思考比关键词框更好的互联网搜索方式。

在CCF理事会换届选举即将开始之际，学会论坛栏目组织会员写了四篇文章。他们的想法可以说反映了大多数会员的想法，那就是，如果认同学会、热爱学会，就举起手来：我要参选！这4篇文章是：《换届选举体现学会的“三民主义”》、《我为什么要参加竞选》《“五会主义”》和《服务是行动》。

P14 The Virtualization Technology for HPC System
Chen Zuoning, Li Hongliang, Yin Hongwu, He Wangquan, Cheng Hua, Liu Ruitao, Wang Xingyan, Shen Jinxiang, Guo Yi, Qian Lei and Wang Yu
After making a thorough research for High Performance Computer system virtualization technology and analyzing the difficulties which HPC encounters nowadays, Prof. Chen et al. from the Jiangnan Institute of Computing Technology suggest a model for heterogeneous HPC, and explore the related theories and technologies, including multi-dimension heterogeneous virtualization architecture, unified middle layer parallel computing model, heterogeneous computing platform virtualization and present some application examples.
P21 The Applications of Virtualization Technology in Cloud Simulation
Li Bohu, Chai Xudong, Chen Yang and Hou Baocun
Prof. Li et al. from Beijing Simulation Center present a deep discussion on the architecture of cloud simulation system and their works in this area sponsored by the project Computing System Virtualization. They also describe some promising applications of virtualization technology in cloud simulation and suggest a series of future research directions in this aspect.

Record/replay is a kind of virtualized execution technology meaningful for analyzing the parallel program execution. It is very important for debugging the programs as well as analyzing the system performance. Dr. Xue et al. from Tsinghua University present their recent research work in this technology by introducing tools, including MPIWiz, FACT and PHANTOM, developed based on the work.

With the development of system virtualization and cloud computing technologies, HPC cloud has gradually become a new kind of HPC service pattern. Prof. Wu et al. from Huazhong University of Science and Technology raise a few fundamental questions about HPC cloud: Why do we need HPC cloud and what are its advantages? What types of HPC applications can run on HPC cloud? They present their prospects on the answers to these questions and suggest some new research topics.
