About the NLPCC Conference

The conference on Natural Language Processing and Chinese Computing (NLPCC) is the annual meeting of the CCF TCCI (Technical Committee of Chinese Information, China Computer Federation). NLPCC is a leading international conference specialized in the fields of Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Chinese Computing (CC). It serves as a main forum for researchers and practitioners from academia, industry, and government to share their ideas, research results and experiences, and to promote their research and technical innovations in the fields. Previous NLPCC conferences were successfully held in Beijing (2012), Chongqing (2013), Shenzhen (2014), Nanchang (2015), and Kunming (2016).

China Computer Federation is pleased to announce that the meeting will take place in Dalian, China, from November 8th to 12th, 2017.

Today, NLP and CC technologies are among the most active research and development areas due to rapid advancement of the Internet as well as the worldwide proliferation of mobile devices and social media. The fields are facing many new challenges arisen from intelligent applications and big data, such as business intelligence, social analytics, etc. NLPCC 2017 will focus on Fundamental Research in Language Computing, Multi-Lingual Access, NLP Data Science/Text Mining, Machine Learning for NLP, Knowledge Graph/IE/QA, NLP for social network, Information Retrieval, Conversational Bot/Summarization/Discourse as well as the Applications of Language Computing.

NLPCC 2017 will feature keynote speakers Prof. Mirella Lapata (Professor, the University of Edinburgh, UK), Dr. Jianfeng Gao (Partner Research Manager at Microsoft AI and Research, Redmond, USA), Dr. Noah Smith (University of Washington), and Dr. Hua Wu (Baidu Inc., China). NLPCC Tutorials/CCF ADL 86 will be delivered by Dr. Rui Yan (Professor, Peking University), Dr. Nan Duan (Researcher, Microsoft Research Asia), Dr. Jun Xu (Professor, ICT, CAS), Prof. Deyi Xiong (Professor, Soochow University), Dr. Jianfeng Gao (Partner Research Manager at Microsoft AI and Research, Redmond, USA) and Dr. Xing Xie (Senior Research Manager, Microsoft Research Asia).

Events

NLPCC 2017 Conference has arranged keynotes, ADL/tutorials, poster/demo, and industry expo, as well as multi-track sessions of research paper reports.

NLPCC 2017 tutorials, held as CCF ADL 86 (Advanced Disciplines Lectures), will feature domestic and international specialists to give six lectures/tutorials in three days on Question Answering, Chat Bot and Natural Language Understanding.

Student Workshop, CCF Open Funding Project Workshop and Technical Evaluation Workshop will be held with NLPCC 2017 conference.

The Best Paper (sponsored by Microsoft Research) and Best Student Paper Awards (sponsored by AFNLP) of NLPCC 2017, as well as Test of Time Award of NLPCC (sponsored by Springer) will be selected independently by the Best Paper Award Committee.

NLPCC 2017 will provide a limited number of Travel Grants and Industrial Demo Grants to scholars and industrial participants:

u All authors who have submitted to NLPCC 2017 are eligible to apply for the Travel Grants to attend NLPCC 2017. Priority will be given to applicants from west or middle regions of China.

u In addition, scholars or students who have published (or have papers accepted), as first author, in the leading international conferences or journals within the last 12 months, are eligible to apply to Grants for Free Registration of NLPCC 2017.

u All the participants attending the Industrial Expo of NLPCC 2017 are eligible to apply to the Expo Grants. The grants will provide free booth and exhibition registration to selected participant(s) who will demonstrate outstanding novel technology or product.

u Eligible applicants are encouraged to submit their grant application forms (http://tcci.ccf.org.cn/conference/2017/newinfo.php) after completing their Early-bird registration for NLPCC 2017.
